God’s Whisper Writer’s Retreat is looking for writers, editors, and/or publishers to lead workshops at our annual three-day event, June 21-23, 2019 in Radiant, Virginia.

Typical presentations last around 45 minutes and are participation-based with a small group of 8-10 people.  The setting is rural and highly casual, but retreat participants are intent, focused, and eager to engage.

Reimbursement consists of free attendance at the retreat, including all meals.  You will also receive billing on the retreat website and other publications and will have space to display any books you may have to sell.

Previous workshops have included topics such as

  • Nature Writing
  • Guarding the Writer’s Soul
  • Working with the Inner Editor
  • Writing Through Trauma
  • Facing Fear as a Writer
  • Getting Unstuck

Proposals should be submitted by November 15, 2018 and will be chosen by the retreat leaders based on content.  All submitters will be informed of our decision by  December 1, 2018. Special consideration will be made to include workshop leaders that reflect a diverse background of interests and experiences.

Presenters are asked to participate in the full retreat from Friday – Sunday in order to give other attendees the opportunity to interact with you during the weekend. If you will not be able to attend the full retreat, we respectfully ask that you not submit a proposal.  Thank you.

Two Notes

God’s Whisper Retreat has spiritual underpinnings and attends to the care of the writer’s soul as well as the impact of our words in the world, but it is not an explicitly Christian or Religious event.  Special care should be taken to honor the various backgrounds and experiences of all participants.

Also, the retreat takes place in a barn where animals live. Additionally, you will not have wifi access or availability for PowerPoint or other technology for your presentation. Hand-outs, written activities, and interactive experiences are encouraged.
