Looking to find a laid-back writing experience?
Wanting to get some time away to relax and concentrate on your work?
Interested in meeting new writers with whom you can share your work?
If so, our God’s Whisper Farm Writer’s Retreat is the place for you.
On July 18-20, 2014, 25 writers will come to enjoy this quiet space in Lovingston, Virginia, at the edge of the Blue Ridge to spend a weekend just to focus on our work. Andi Cumbo-Floyd – writing teacher and author of The Slaves Have Names – will facilitate each the workshops, and each participant will have an opportunity to give a reading, receive feedback from other writers, and participate in a casual, relaxing weekend experience.
As part of your time here on the farm, you will:
Have an opportunity to participate in an open mic reading.
Be part of a small, focused workshop group.
Receive feedback about your work from Andi.
Hear the gifted Shawn Smucker give a fireside reading.
Enjoy a concert under the stars.
Savor four home-cooked, healthy meals.
Meet other writers.
Ask lots of questions.
Spend time with animals – goats, chickens, and dogs.
Focus on your writing.
I hope that sounds as heavenly to you as it does to me.
When you leave the retreat, you will have:
Received specific feedback on your work in progress
Produced several pages of new work that you can work with now or in the future
Met writers with whom you can connect in the future
Spent time in a relaxing space.
Give focused time and attention to your writing.
Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to work intimately with Andi, eat meals made from local, home-grown food, and hear a special reading by Shawn Smucker and a concert by John Francis. (See below for information on how to get concert-only tickets for $10/each). All on the side of the mountain in the quiet of the Blue Ridge.
